Marketing yourself as a small business
When running a small business, especially by yourself, it's easy to feel as though you're always trying to prove yourself, and prove that you can grow your business without needing a whole team backing your corner. But if you let stress and comparison get to you, you can be your own worst enemy. You will inevitably be faced with struggles, and at times it'll feel like you're facing an uphill battle that cannot be won. It's not supposed to be easy. If that was the case, everyone would own a business. You just need to believe in yourself and remind yourself of why you started this journey to begin with.
One of the biggest goals of running a business is getting as many customers or clients as you can manage. This is very dependent on the way you market yourself and the brand that you have created. There are several different ways to go about this, along with various strategies and techniques, so it's all about narrowing it down and finding out what works best for you. There might be just one thing in particular, or five! Every business is different. But if you're not too sure, then here are a few examples to get you on the right track.
Word of mouth marketing
One of the best forms of marketing that so many people seem to forget about or underestimate, is word of mouth. When someone speaks positively about your business to their friends, this is so good for you, because people trust their friends and family. Not only that, but it doesn't cost you a thing either, other than hard work and providing a great customer service. So spread the word, and always try and encourage happy customers to do the same.
Another way you can do this is by ensuring you have a place on your website where people can leave feedback. This is scary for some owners because there is always a possibility that someone will leave something negative, but you should be doing all you can to ensure that doesn't happen. That's why whenever a customer has a problem or issue with something, you should respond to it as quickly as you can and make it better.
We are a society that is more fashion craved than ever, and we always pay so much attention to what's written on a t-shirt, so what better way to show off your business and brand while staying current and trendy than by making your own shirt? There are sites out there that give you complete free range to create whatever design, logo, color, and text you want on a t-shirt, so you can come up with something super fashionable that also stands for what you do as a business. You can then print out a good few of these and sell them on your own website.
Social media will come in very handy with this too, as you can get your friends to wear these and take photos of them in it, and then post them to your Instagram page for example so you spark a buzz. You can also hold competitions, and the winner gets a free t-shirt, or the chance to be featured - or both. Either way, it's a win-win situation for you.
Now that you have a couple of ideas, you can see how you can implement them into your own style of doing things. It's important that you figure out who you are and how you want to show that through your brand as early on as you can, because that way you know exactly what kind of direction to take things in, in order to showcase yourself and your business in the best possible light.
