Grace changes everything. I'm sure you've heard that before, but if you stop and think about it, those words hold so much truth. Grace changed everything for me. Once I started giving myself grace for things that weren't “perfect” I felt free. Free from that burden of trying to always be perfect. I was less stressed and much happier knowing that through God's grace, I didn't have to do it all and do it perfectly.
My life isn't perfect. There are messes. There are hard days. But in the middle of all of that, there is also joy. I am in a season of life where I'm learning to find those moments, because they are there. I'm learning to savor those moments because they pass by so quickly. I'm learning that perfect doesn't exist in the traditional way that we think it does. Perfect exists in God. And keeping our eyes on God gives us a fresh perspective on the perfect we already have in front of us.
If you're struggling with letting go of perfection like I was, here are just a few things you can give yourself grace for today:
- grace for the hard moments
- grace for the unchecked boxes on your to-do list
- grace for the things forgotten
- grace for the things left undone
- grace for the messy house
- grace for the piles of laundry
- grace for the short temper
- grace for the take out dinner
- grace for the imperfections of every day life
It's a learning process. As humans, we naturally want bigger and better. We are drawn towards the idea of perfection because it sounds so nice. I don't have it all figured out. I'm working on it every single day. But with time, I'm learning to embrace my imperfect life and it is becoming my perfect more and more. I learned to give myself grace in these moments. I know that the to-do list will always be there but that my son will only be little once. Some days are easier than others and I am constantly reminding myself this, but with grace, those hard days get just a little bit easier. Those imperfect moments become that much more enjoyable.
Because grace has become such an essential part of living intentionally for me, I felt the need to create a place where I can remind myself of His grace every day. And the Grace journal was born. My hope is that this journal will help us to give ourselves more grace in each day. To breathe out all of the overwhelm, stress, and comparison. To savor each moment and be fully present where we are right now. To know that it’s OK to say no, do less, and choose joy. My hope is that this journal serves as a place for you to let it all go and get it down on paper. Use it daily, weekly, or whenever you heart desires to give yourself more grace.
I believe in this journal with all my heart and have even started using it already. It is such a refreshing feeling to write in this journal at the end of the day and let go of all those things that maybe didn't go so well that day. This journal was created by His grace and for His grace, as a reminder to us that we don't have to be "perfect". And that what we have right now is perfectly imperfect anyway.
If this is something you need in your life too, I encourage you to check out the Grace Journal and order yours today.
How do you give yourself grace and let go of perfection?
