What does it take?
What does it take to muster up the courage to say yes, to step outside of your comfort zone, and take risk? What does it take to become the woman God created you to be? What does it take to go after your passion?
What does it take to be a woman on a mission?
In celebration of their new website launch and mission, Grit & Virtue asked several amazing bloggers and business owners to answer these questions and tell our story of what it takes to be a woman on a mission. For me, I am finding the answers more every day, and learning what it takes to be a woman on a mission as I continue to go through this journey.
It takes faith.
The simple answers to all of these questions is faith. Faith that God is in control, faith that He is taking care of you, faith that His plan is greater than ours. It takes courage to take a leap into doing something outside of your comfort zone or something that you are unsure of. But when you have faith that God is there to catch you if you fall, the leap is a lot easier. You will stumble along the way, but by keeping faith, you will always be sure to end up back on your feet. Don't let the stumbles hold you back or make you turn around. If there is something you dream of doing that will bring you joy in your life, let your faith be greater than your fear.
It takes the right mindset.
To be the woman God created you to be takes a certain mindset. It takes being content and positive even in the valleys of life. It's about embracing each season for what it is and enjoying what is in front of you. Don't focus too much on what you want or don't have right now. Don't worry about tomorrow. Stop thinking "if I just get this done or make this happen or change this about my life then I will be happy". I changed my perspective recently and it made a huge difference in my life. I can choose to be mad or frustrated about the things I want to be different but instead I choose to be happy and content. I choose to stay positive an keep going forward. It has made my life more enjoyable and I am able to fully immerse myself in what is in front of me. I can dig deep into what I have now and make the best of it. The right mindset is important for life and business. Pursuing your passion and being a woman on a mission is no easy feat. But with the right perspective, the ups and downs will feel a lot less bumpy. Since shifting my perspective, I have not only been happier in general, but I have also had a new shift in focus within my business which resulted in major growth that I have been dreaming about for years.
It takes passion, determination, and commitment.
To step outside of your comfort zone takes a lot. To do something that you feel like you are called to do takes a great amount of passion, determination, and commitment. If you are not fully committed to it, you probably won't get very far. That passion and determination is what drives you to do what you love. It is what keeps you going. It's what gets you up at 5 in the morning and what keeps you going at midnight that same night. Whatever it is that you are passionate about, follow that passion with determination to make it happen. If I did not have the passion and commitment that I do for my business, it probably would not even exist. As a stay at home mom who owns and runs a business all by myself, my time is limited to work on Printed Ink. But the passion behind it is what keeps me going and what makes me never want to give it up, no matter how hard it gets.
It takes community.
You can't do it alone. I am sure you have heard the saying that it takes a village. The truth is that we are all better off together instead of trying to navigate the waters alone. And there is no need to. Even when you feel like you are alone in a situation, and that there is no one else that will understand, there is. There is always someone else who shares your pain, worries, passion, and beliefs. Surround yourself with those that build you up and make you stronger and we will all be able to become the women that God created us to be. Following your passion and finding your mission becomes easier when you have the support behind you.
It takes God.
My business and my life are rooted in God. With God at the center of everything, I am able to stay focused on what really matters. To find courage to follow your passion and be that woman on a mission, takes God within you. To be the woman that God created you to be, means that you have to know God, follow God, and trust in God. Without Him, you will feel lost and not know what it is He wants for you. First and foremost, you have to have God in your life to be able to do all of these things.
