Getting to Know You: Part 4

For the final part of my getting to know you series, I want to share a little bit about where I am today and where I am headed in the next couple of years. It has been an amazing journey to get me where I am in my life today and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.

Where I Am Today + How I Got Here

I have always been creative person. Growing up, art and writing were always two of my favorite things. But if you would have asked me 10 years ago where I thought I would be today, this would not have been my answer.

In college, I studied many different aspects of marketing, ad, pr, design and journalism. I enjoyed all of these areas and wanted to explore them all. Eventually though, I landed back on the creative side and despite having a degree in journalism, I started a career as a website designer after graduating college.

In 2012 I started Printed Ink and slowly transititoned from being a website designer to owner and operating Printed Ink full time. It is never something I imagined I would do, but it has grown into an extension of my heart and a way to pair my passion for design and helping others. I started with designing invitations and cards, and it slowly grew into much more. Now I create meaningful products that combine style and function.

I am passionate about simple yet significant design and using that to help others find the joy and purpose in their life. With Printed Ink, I am able to inspire and encourage others to live their life with joy and intention.

The journey to get where I am today has been a long one. Now that I am here I realize that this business is more than I could ever want and need. It is everything I love all wrapped up into one. It allows me to help support my family and follow my dreams. But it's so much more than that. It's not something I created - it something God always had waiting for me. And it's not over yet. I know it will continue to get better. Even though I cannot imagine how, I know God has more planned for me. I could say the same thing for my personal life. I had many dreams of what I would be when I grew up and where I would live. Honestly, none of those dreams came true, but it was such a blessing. I couldn't imagine my life any other way - living any where else, or being married to anyone else. It's just proof that God really does know what he is doing!

Where I am Headed

Over the years, I have learned not to plan to far in advance. I am a planner by heart, but I know that life doesn't always go as planned and that is just fine with me. First and foremost, I am trusting that God will take me and my family where we need to go. But I wouldn't be me without a plan.

Over the next few years, I hope to be able to continue to grow Printed Ink into the lifestyle brand it is becoming. I am so grateful for all of the support I have gotten since I started this business, and it brings me joy to know how many people I have helped the last few years. I am defining the brand and my style more and more all the time, and I am working hard to bring both the business side and creative side to its full potential. I am still doing this all by myself, but maybe one day I will be able to have a shop assistant to help with the day to day tasks. I have specific goals for Printed Ink (see this year's here) but I am taking it one day at a time and doing what I can to make it all happen.

As for my personal life, we have plans to build our dream home on our farm in the next couple of years. I am excited for that journey but trying not to rush life in the mean time. I am sure there will be more kids in our future, but for now we are fully enjoying Logan while he is little.

It has been a joy to tell you a little about myself and let you in on the person behind Printed Ink. I hope that you continue to follow along with me on Instagram and Facebook for more behind the scenes and family updates!
